Configuration is a business decision
Every configuration choice encodes a decision about process ownership, approvals, and data. Making those choices during implementation, under time pressure, is how organisations end up automating the workflow they meant to replace.
Map first, configure second
Before a module is switched on, three things need to be explicit:
- who owns each process end to end
- which steps exist for control, and which exist only out of habit
- what the data must look like for reporting to be trusted
